Bailey the Cat

My lovely client had a gorgeous cat called Bailey and they wanted a portrait of him done for their sons birthday present for when he returned home from his travels. Their son absolutely cherished this cat, so it was crucial for me to do him justice! I used several reference pictures of Bailey (as well as meeting the infamous kitty himself!) to sketch the design onto a piece of beautiful live edge wood. Animal portraits are one of the more difficult subjects to work on because of the patterns of fur and high levels of detail but I was really proud of how this came out and it takes pride of place in their home! Bailey even gave it a sniff of approval!

This is what around 20 hours of woodburning looks like for me.
And this continues to show my love of cats of course!
