Nature is my biggest inspiration, whether that be an old gnarly tree, a natural landscape, or British wildlife. There’s so many textures and details to capture and immortalise in the grain of the wood, and this subject matter aligns perfectly with the rustic nature of the material itself. It allows me to connect to nature in another form and continue my Nemophilist tendencies. It’s fascinating to play around with the textures of fur, bark, water, and etch these details into the wood.

It also feeds into my lust for adventure as it gets me out exploring new locations and beauty spots, and documenting the space/subject with a range of pictures, to then be captured later in the wood.

It has been a big learning curve to work on more realistic pieces recently and pet portraits, but I thoroughly enjoy the challenge and derive a lot of satisfaction from the finished piece and the customers reaction.

This website acts as a platform to share these previous commission works and to show my style and inspiration over the years. If interested in a commission piece, or to find out more, please head to Contact Me for enquiries.
